OnOff

OnOff was a design exploration of a device that allows fun and fluid control of a smart home. A shell of foam and fabric creates a soft and warm appearance that fits well into living rooms. Interaction with the device is based on gestures performed in mid-air, as well as squeezing the foam. For most interactions, the orientation of the ball does not matter. However, a small integrated display can show circular menus to remind users of the available gestures, or display status information, such as the temperature of a digital thermostat.
